Do you get vacation time every 12 months or 6 months after your 1 year anniversary

So I just hit my 6 month mark after my 1 year anniversary (so I’ve been here a year and 6 months today) and got another 40 hrs of vacation. Is that right? I thought it was every year on your anniversary date?
