Refused B1/B2 under 214(b) due to DS-160 location confusion — Re-interviewing next week. Need advice!

Hello everyone,
I have my second B1/B2 visa interview next week at the Chennai Consulate and would love advice from anyone who has navigated a similar situation.
Background & Previous Refusal:
- First Interview: Refused under Section 214(b).
- The Confusion: On my DS-160, the destination was listed as a specific city. During the interview, I colloquially named the major metropolitan area instead. The VO flagged this as a mismatch and asked who filled my DS-160. I mentioned my employer prepared it, creating a contradiction since the form stated no preparer.
Current Situation & Issue:
- Current Trip Plan: Upcoming 5-day corporate business trip for strategic alignment meetings, fully funded by my employer.
- The Issue: I completed my biometrics under my original DS-160 confirmation number. Since the booking system does not allow updating or swapping the DS-160 after biometrics, my submitted DS-160 still shows an intended travel date that has already passed.
Questions for the Community:
- Travel Date Mismatch: Has anyone attended a B1/B2 interview with a DS-160 travel date that has already passed due to biometrics lock-in? How did you explain it to the VO?
- Addressing Past Refusal: What is the best way to explain the previous location misunderstanding concisely without sounding defensive?
- Tips: How can I best present my updated invitation letter to ensure the VO sees the new travel dates?
Thanks in advance for your insights!
