Maternity leave
I joined a company three years ago, and a woman was on maternity leave. Even though she came back after her break, she had no tangible responsibilities. Now she is on maternity leave again for another year. She is not the only one; every year, we have someone on maternity leave in our department. Which makes me wonder: at what point will people or companies realise that this is completely unfair to those who are not taking maternity leave? Our salaries, equity, and bonuses get diluted because some people are allowed to game the system. We also have to work extra to absorb their workload.
I have nothing against people having kids. Sure, it's their right. But why should we share the burden? Yes, I know it's their legal right and everything, but they do it for selfish reasons and, hence, should also bear all the costs, direct and indirect.
