why do they lack empathy

my dad came in my room and started shouting and dragging me out of bed because i had to babysit my two year old brother for the day. i told him i couldn’t today because i feel unwell and asked if any of my other siblings could watch him. he then proceeded to say that because i don’t have a job or make any money he doesn’t give a fuck how i feel. since when did the amount of money you make determine your worth? mind you i just finished high school a month ago and i’m looking for a job. he just thinks i do nothing in bed all day
