I am a newbie at networking and internet security, need some advice regarding remote accessing my ProxMox server while note putting my home network at risk.
Unfortunately I do not have full control over my network as I cant replace my home router as other people in my flat also use this stuff and I cant just rip it out and put my own network in place. If you take a look at the diagram, I only control the unmanaged switch, my PC and the ProxMox server. I cant install a new router and I cant switch the router to bridge mode.
the prox mox server is supposed to be a remote coding environment I can access from work and personal laptops/mobiles as well as a media server.
So the advice I am looking for is, what sort of setup would give me secure remote access and would not put the rest of the network I can't control at risk?
I have seen cloudflare tunnels as an option though I'm not a fan of exposing my data to them unencrypted.
I've looked at things like wireguard and reverse proxies but am unsure about how they work with a network you don't fully control as most examples show people using pfsense or something similar on custom routers or bridged routers.
