Looking for a language exchange partner (English ↔ Chinese) and hopefully a new friend!

Hi everyone!

I’m an international student looking for someone to practice English with. If you’re interested in learning Chinese, I’d be happy to help too, and hopefully we can become friends while helping each other improve.

A little about me: I’m a 21-year-old girl (born in 2004) studying in New Zealand. I’ve been here for almost two years, but honestly, my spoken English is still pretty bad. I’m tired of seeing the awkward expressions on my classmates’ faces when I can’t get my words out properly.

Every time I’m in class and feel like I’m the only one who can’t speak English fluently, it really gets to me. Over time, that embarrassment turned into fear, and because of that, I haven’t made much progress over the past two years. But I’ve finally decided that I want to change.

As for me, I go swimming from time to time, and I started learning bass guitar a few months ago. I also love listening to music and watching Korean dramas. I have a little car and really enjoy driving around and exploring new places, so if you like road trips too, I think we’d have a lot of fun together.

Sometimes, especially when I’m stressed, I’ll go to a bar in the evening for a drink and something to eat. I’m quite a sensitive person and tend to overthink things, but I also enjoy having meaningful conversations and getting to know people from different backgrounds.

If you’re looking to practice Chinese, or you’d simply like to make a new friend, feel free to send me a message

You don’t have to be a native English speaker, either. If you’re also an international student or someone who’s been through the same struggles with learning English and would like a speaking partner, I’d be more than happy to practice together. We can encourage each other and improve together.

Looking forward to meeting some interesting people! 😊
