The two-pass study session I use when a topic feels too big

When a chapter feels impossible, I stop trying to finish the chapter. I split the session into two passes.

Pass one is a map, not a mastery attempt: list the main ideas, circle the terms I cannot explain, and choose one worked example. Ten minutes, hard stop.

Pass two is retrieval: close the source, explain the smallest circled idea from memory, solve one problem, then write the exact point where the explanation or solution broke.

The useful output is not pages covered. It is one named gap. A named gap is small enough to attack tomorrow.

What topic currently feels too large to start?
