I always feel angry seeing people talk about inner child healing

Support/Empathy

I wish I feel empathetic or happy or anything other than purely enraged with people who openly talk about their “inner child” and all the work they do to heal them. I don’t want to hear about your inner child. Your perception of yourself as a child. Your memories.

My inner child lives in me daily. She has her own thoughts and feelings. It feels impossible to “reparent” myself in this woo woo inner child healing way that everyone around me seems to be doing. I don’t view myself with as much compassion as these other people seem to.

I cannot wrap my head around telling other people about my “inner child” or throwing her a party or any of these other things I’ve seen. I don’t understand how there are 50 year old, 60 year old, and older, people sharing these deeply personal parts of themselves. I don’t understand how showcasing your smallest and most vulnerable self is a good idea.

I feel like a party pooper because everyone just seems to be having fun and healing together! It’s so lovely and healing to let our child parts play but they don’t realize other peoples minds don’t work like ours does. People don’t understand that my mind is heavily compartmentalized and the “me” is different than me sometimes. I can’t relate to most peoples experiences.

How you guys feel about it?
