Ex wanting space & time

On Monday my ex (22F) dumped me (23M).

On Monday night after I acknowledged her break up text she sent me this.

“Right now I need time and space to process everything & process my emotions. I’m not in a place where I can have another conversation about our relationship yet, and I need you to respect that.”

“I’m not saying I’ll never be open to talking in person, but I can’t make that decision right now…
I just need some time after my trip to clear my head and let myself process everything”.

I immediately have gone no contact since Monday even though she’s kept all forms of communication open.

Do girls genuinely mean it when they say time & space or is it a way to ease the break up?
