Final months- freaking out $7k wedding
Hi everyone. I’m posting because I’m genuinely looking for ideas, not judgment.
My fiancé and I are getting married in January 2027, and we’re trying to figure out how we’re going to come up with the remaining $7,500 we need. Before anyone says, “Just postpone it” or “Don’t have the wedding,” that’s not an option we’re considering. We’ll figure it out somehow—we’re just trying to find ideas we haven’t thought of yet.
We’ve already applied for what feels like every loan possible and have been denied by all of them. We both work two jobs, we’ve cut our wedding down to the bare minimum, and we’re doing everything as cheaply as we can. We already have $300 down on my dress and small deposits on our food and photographer. We haven’t officially booked the venue yet, but we know exactly where we’re booking and are trying to secure it as soon as we can.
We also don’t have anyone helping us financially, so it’s entirely on us.
Part of the reason we’re trying so hard to make January happen is because our dog is 14 years old. He’s my fiancé’s absolute best friend, and it would mean the world to us if he could be there. We know nothing is guaranteed, and that’s why waiting another year really isn’t something we want to do.
At this point, I’m even considering starting a g0fundus, but I honestly feel embarrassed even thinking about it.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Did you find creative ways to raise money, side hustles that actually made a difference, grants, fundraising ideas, or anything else? I’m open to hearing just about anything that could realistically help.
Please be kind. I know this is a financial situation of our own making, and we’re taking responsibility for it. I’m just hoping someone has an idea we haven’t thought of yet.
