Where can I find real footage to practice editing and build a portfolio?

Hey everyone,

I'm new to video editing and recently decided to switch careers from web development to become a full-time video editor.

I don't have any experience with desktop editing software yet. I've only used CapCut on mobile, and now I'm learning DaVinci Resolve through YouTube tutorials.

My biggest question is: where do people find footage to practice with and build a portfolio?

I'm looking for something more realistic than random stock clips. For example, if there are YouTubers or content creators who share their raw footage along with the editing instructions they gave their editor, that would be amazing. I'd love to edit the same footage myself and then compare my result with the final published video to see what I could improve.

Or how did you guys build your first portfolio when you were starting out?

I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks!
