How to beat Ed Sheeran traffic at Levis Stadium guide

figured i would share what worked for me and a few friends going to massive concerts at levis stadium. traffic around santa clara gets completely gridlocked on event days so timing is everything.

if you are driving your car, your best bet is to check the prked app before you leave. you can use it to rent driveways or private garage spots right near levis stadium from local homeowners. it is way cheaper, feels safer parking on private property, and the host can give you quick updates. the biggest benefit is you bypass the main stadium exit jam since you just walk back to a private spot and drive out while everyone else is trapped in the main lots.

for timing your drive, you realistically want to pull into the stadium area at least 2.5 to 3 hours before doors open if you want to beat the worst of it. for ed sheeran, doors generally open around 5:30 pm, which means traffic on highway 101, highway 237, and great america parkway starts backing up heavily around 3:00 pm. if you aim to arrive in the area between 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm, you will miss the major bottlenecks. arriving after 4:00 pm almost guarantees you sit on an off-ramp for an hour.

if you park in official stadium lots like the red or yellow lots, make sure to prepay online because they are strictly cashless and fill up fast. keep in mind that leaving official lots right after the last song can easily take 60 to 90 minutes of idling. unless you plan to slip out 15 minutes before the final song, it is usually better to just relax at your spot for an hour after the show ends while the parking lot empties out.

taking vta light rail to great america station from mountain view or milpitas is another solid option to bypass road gridlock entirely, though train lines can get pretty long right when the crowd surges out.

hope this helps
