Advice please? is it worth dropping the 11th PA to reduce tax liability for exceeding the annual pension 60k threshold?
Hi, looking for some advice please @/goldstone
Bog-Standard Band 4 (14 yrs service ) NHS consultant on 11 pas
Just received pension statements yesterday
2025-2026 16k over the threshold which would incur a tax liability of 7.2K
Unfortunately, no carry over as 2024-2025, pension growth was very high but this was covered by 3 previous years
It seems its a no-brainer to try to drop the 11th non-pensionable PA, on which you are paying 45% tax on but also incurring a pension tax liability of 7.2K. ? is anyone more tax-savvy in the same position or have similar thoughts? Am I missing anything? Am I literally working 4 hrs extra for nothing?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated? @ tony goldstone
Many thanks
