Does anyone else Beat It to Michael Jackson?
"People always told me, be careful what you do"
Drip.
"And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts"
Drip.
"And mother always told me, be careful of who you love"
Drip.
"And be careful what you do"
Drip.
"'cause the lie becomes the truth"
Drip.
My blood dripped into the medical bag, drop by drop.
This was my everyday life.
Do you like Michael Jackson? The King of pop? Yes, capitalized K, he deserves it because he truly was something else and I WILL argue you on it. I think I like him too, maybe even too much. Let me tell you the first time I've heard his music. This was in high school, I was in my awkward phase of being shy and not talking too much. Then one day in math class I was called upon to solve a problem on the blackboard in front of the whole class. Someone's phone rang and unfortunately it was Michael Jackson's 1987 hit "Bad". You could compare me to the likes of Superman, Spiderman or any other generic hero but that was the moment I discovered my superpower. As I know now, whenever I'd hear any of Michael Jackson's discography, my blood circulation would increase by vast amounts more than that of a normal person.
I'll let your imagination fill in what happened, I'm still far too embarrassed to admit it. My social life was ruined for years to come, I had to move schools obviously but even then, I'd have old classmates and even fucking TEACHERS use troll accounts to call me "Boner Jackson" on Facebook and such. I got home really gloomy, crying into my pillow until the sun set. Needless to say, I ended up skipping the next day. I was home all alone when I heard a knocking at the door, there were Red Cross members going door to door asking for blood donations. I already wanted to die, maybe getting a little blood out of my system would help me feel better.
So, she set the thingy up while I watched Scooby-Doo on the TV. Then I kid you fucking not, her phone rang and it was the fucking 1982 hit song "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. Great, suddenly everybody was a Michael Jackson fan. My blood started dripping much faster, instead of a drip. drip. drip. it surged into more of a dripdripdripdrip. I have to say the lady didn't seem all that surprised, she already had more bags ready. By the time she was leaving, I had filled up 3 whole bags full of blood. She gave me $300 and told me she'd come by again in a few days. I didn't know why I got so excited over Michael Jackson out of all people, but hey, it landed me where I am now. I didn't have to finish my education nor did I ever have to bother with having a normal job. I have various members of the Red Cross come over several times a week, just to suck my blood while I sit there, listening to good ol' MJ.
Recently, I got tired of listening to the King of pop so much and decided that I'd take a break from the blood draws, at least for a week or two. The Red Cross were completely fine with it, the lady just told me "See you soon!" with a smile at my last appointment and that was that. The first few days were completely fine, everything was just like the usual minus the blood draws but then on day 4 I would find myself tapping my foot to the 1988 Michael Jackson hit song "Smooth Criminal". I wouldn't say I did it voluntarily, it was more of a feeling. It'd come and go. What WOULDN'T come and go was the fact that my hair had changed its' color from brown to black and its' growth had accelerated, but only to a certain point. It refused to grow past my shoulders and when I decided to just shave it all off to gain at least some control of my body, it'd grow back by the next day. On the 9th day, when I woke up and looked in the mirror, I found my eyes bulging out. I could be compared to an inflated frog or something alike, though I have to say I did see more of Michael in myself. Don't get me wrong, I'd NEVER look just like Michael, I hate those fucking impersonators who pretend to be Michael when they are CLEARLY not! The devil is ALWAYS in the details and just because some dude from Portland decides to get a wig and plastic surgery just to look like my King and make some money, it will never make him so. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE HIS GOLDEN VOICE OR BEAUTIFUL LOOKS! Anyway, throughout the day, I kept having a feeling of being watched, with the occasional hee-hee around the house. I had my own fans! I was just like my beloved Jackson. Prince was someone I see compared to MJ a lot, so I gave him a shot to sort of cleanse my palette and within the first couple seconds of Purple Rain, I broke a cold sweat and I felt like puking. I was having hardcore Michael withdrawals, so I just decided to try and sleep it off. I didn't account for Michael stepping to the beat of "Billie Jean" in my bathroom. Step. Step. Step-step. That's ALL I heard, so it's no surprise I couldn't get a wink in. I couldn't do it anymore.
So, of course, I did what any sane person would do and popped on the neverending 1983 classic hit song "Billie Jean".
And here we are!
Can anybody relate to my experience? Let me know what artists get YOU going!
I love you, Michael! My life is so different and full of dreams I couldn't even think of and it's only thanks to you! So please, don't be shy and come out, I'm a big fan.
