Recovery options won’t update

Just recently recovered an old Gmail I’ve been out of since 2024. Used a familiar device, knew the old password (typed the username instead of entire email), on same network I used to make account, etc. The old number attached to the account is inactive as I’ve tried calling it.

Although I’m successfully logged in now, have a passkey set, NEW updated phone number, and approved all the security activity, it still won’t release that old number for some reason? It’s just hanging on for dear life.

Idk how to go about getting that old stinky number removed from the account overall. Gmail STILL tries to get me to verify the old number upon trying to change certain settings or sign in on a nearby device… even after logging in via the passkey created?

Hopefully it doesn’t boot me out on this device…

Anyone know how to get that old number removed?? Wait some days for it to clear out officially?? Help lol
