Seeking advice: Would it be weird for my partner and I to give our son the same first name as his distant second cousin?

For context, I’m having a boy in early November and I have always loved this name years before it had this familial association. The problem is that my partner’s cousin who lives in another state already has a son with this name who is around 8 years old. I have only met this child once in the 7 years we have been together and my partner isn’t very close with his cousin because he is 10+ years older than us and does not live in the same state. My son may see this second cousin once every 3 years or so at a family event so it would be very infrequently. Would it be weird for us to also use this name?
