I'm 24 and I haven't seen anyone in over a year. I feel like I'm losing myself
For about a year now, I haven't seen anyone except my parents. I never go out and I spend almost all my time locked in my room.
I feel like my brain is slowly shutting down. Being stuck inside all the time, never getting fresh air, never talking to people my own age, and never experiencing life outside makes me feel almost lobotomized. Every day feels exactly the same.
The situation is complicated because I live with a very controlling father who has strong narcissistic traits. I feel trapped, and at 24 years old I'm deeply ashamed that I don't have a life of my own.
Has anyone else gone through this kind of long-term isolation? How did you get out of it, especially when your family environment was part of the problem? I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have been through something similar, because right now I feel completely stuck.
