How can I get Hinge to show my profile to the right people?
I’m 46F, active, and lifting is a big part of my lifestyle. Most of the new friends I’ve made over the last year are in their 20s because that’s who I naturally meet through hobbies and the gym.
Dating has been confusing, though.
The men around my age who like my profile generally aren’t people I’m attracted to they often don’t seem to prioritize fitness or taking care of themselves. On the other hand, I get attention from much younger, fit men, but it almost always seems to be for something casual or FWB, which isn’t really what I’m looking for.
What I don’t seem to get are likes from attractive, fit men close to my own age.
It has me wondering:
Are fit men in their 40s generally dating younger women?
Is there just a smaller pool of athletic singles in their 40s?
Is this something other active women in their 40s experience?
I’m also open to dating women, although I don’t advertise that on my profile. That comes with its own challenges because I’m looking for someone feminine and athletic, and I know many women who date women are understandably hesitant about someone without previous experience.
I’m genuinely trying to understand whether this is just the reality of dating in your 40s or if there’s something I’m missing. I’d especially love to hear from men or women who have noticed similar patterns.
