Best WDW plan

I have never been to Disney world and am planning a trip soon and am wondering how to tackle the different parks. When at Disneyland I ran into some Florida natives and they said they planned day breaks. I am wondering what the best schedule is for each park. Definitely want to do all of them but does magic kingdom need two days? Also which water park is the best or has anyone ever done both ? Same with hotel which is the best hotel with the most Disney magic. Am I underestimating just how big wdw is if I’ve only been to DL? Also confused about transportation and walking times. If someone could give a WDW for dummies breakdown I’d appreciate that so much. I’ve tried to watch YouTube videos but I just get so overwhelmed.
