keppra liviya- first 48 hours issues
hi!!
my bf & i have a senior mal/shep mix, he is 8 turning 9, & intact.
he had his first seizure yesterday when my bf was driving to go see his parents, he was foaming at the mouth, peed & pooped himself, & was jolting.
we took him to ER vet & after testing they said everything was normal & recommended we go to the nearest vet with a MRI (which is about 2 hrs away btw) soon to see if there’s something in his brain since his levels are good.
they gave him the IV of keppra liviya, & sent us home with the 8h pill where we give him 2 3/4ths (weird dose) .
so far here is how he’s been acting
- peeing & pooping himself (which my bf has been meticulously researching saying it is prolly his digestive system waking up)
-walking into everything
-essentially acting like a really drunk slightly blind person
-keeps sticking his head into weird spots, like we have a desk in the office that has arches on the sides & he keeps sticking his head inside of it
-can’t really look us straight in the eyes
-very disconnected
he is usually a big bundle of sunshine, he loves people, pets, & to cuddle.
we are very concerned because this is drastically different, i don’t like we have him on meds but the vet at the emergency place said since he is old we should just medicate him anyway.
anyone have similar experiences? what did you do?
we just need help tbh.
