Dating a double Scorpio - help!

I’m dating a Scorpio sun, Scorpio rising, and Pisces moon. He’s also got Mercury in Scorpio and Venus in Cap. (I’m a Virgo sun, Leo during, Sag moon, Libra Venus, Virgo mercury for awareness)

I understand the external actions, the loyalty, protectiveness, etc but I cannot figure out what goes on behind the external facade. It feels like trying to pull water from a stone to get any sort of glimpse into feelings and then once every other month or so, he is really sweet and shows feelings. Then poof the next day, it’s as if that never happened.

Is this the vibe of a triple water sign?

Any help appreciated. As a Leo rising and Libra Venus, I’m like — give me all the sweet feeling talk all the time! I don’t like feeling like I can’t tell what’s going on behind the facade. Thanks!
