SSD swap between Steam Deck and Steam Machine

Probably a dumb question, but here we go.

I own a 1TB Steam Deck OLED, and the 512 Steam Machine is finally on its way!

I was wandering, can I swap the SSDs, so that I will have more space available in the Machine to install more demanding games?

Will I need to format them and reinstall SteamOS?
