Weird noise coming from the walls in our bedroom
Wife and I moved to a new place recently and there's this noise that starts around 7am and stops around midnight. Thankfully it stops at night but still it's been a nightmare to deal with... It kind of sounds like a giant microwave popping pop corn. It feels like it's coming from all the walls at the same time. It's really hard to describe.
Here's a recording:
The most popular theory is that it's coming from the airvent of the restaurant which is on the first floor of our building. The air vent is actally attached to the exterior wall of our bedroom and goes all the way to the top of the building. The restaurant opens and closes around those times so it makes sense.
We talked to the building manager who lives one floor above us and he said they were dealing with the same thing and it took the restaurant 2 years to figure out the exact spot that was vibrating but he said he'll talk to the restaurant owner.
So they'll look into it but he didn't give me much hope of getting it fixed any time soon. In the mean time I'm thinking if there's anything we can do on our end to at least decrease the noise a little bit because my wife's gonna have night shift at work soon and sleeping through the day will be very difficult.
I'm open to any suggestions but it's a rental so we can't do any big renovations. Thank you for all your advice in advance.
