Itinerary feedback needed + seeking road trip friendsšŸ™Carretera Austral (+ maybe Puerto Natales)

Question

Hello!

Sorry this is a bit of a two in one post! I’m looking for itinerary advice on the basis that I will be navigating by bus.

However, I’m very nervous so would love to see if there’s anyone out there planning similar routes around the same time in a car that would like a passenger to split the cost šŸ™ or anyone else planning to bus it that wants a travel buddy! I am a soon to be 35 year old woman from Scotland. šŸ“󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁓ó æ

I’m looking at mid to late February, dates not confirmed yet but would be working around specific days where buses and ferries are running.

Here’s my thought process so far (I’m in very early stages so please be kind ā¤ļø)
Any bus times are based on times I’ve found for the coming weeks, obviously I know this may change for Feb.

Day 1
Santiago>Balmaceda
Bus/transfer to Coyhaique, then 3pm bus to Puyuhuapi for overnight stay

Day 2
Ventisquero Colgante hike in Quelat National Park
Stay in Puyuhuapi

Day 3
6am Bus back to Coyhaique and ideally down to Villa Cerra Castillo - but can’t see a bus that goes that way at the moment?

Day 4
Cerro Castillo Laguna day hike
Stay in Cerra Castillo OR evening hitchhike/private ride to Puerto Tranquillo?

Day 5
Bus/ride to Puerto Rio Tranquillo if not going day before
Marble CavesĀ
Overnight in Puerto Rio Tranquillo

Day 6
Exploradores glacier day hike
Stay in Tranquillo

Day 7
Bus Tranquillo to Cochrane
tbc on exactly what to do yet, probably around Confluencia?
Stay in Cochrane

Day 8
AvilƩs loop day hike - any advice on getting to here and back from Cochrane?
Stay in Cochrane

Day 9
Bus Cochrane to Tortel (buses tues, thur, sat only??)

Day 10 onwards tbc
I’m torn between spending a few days in Tortel then making my way back to Balmaceda, or getting the Tabsa ferry to Puerto Natales then spending a few days there doing day hikes before flying back to Santiago.

How many days is recommended for Tortel? This would help determine whether I need to get a bus from Cochrane on the Thursday or Saturday before the ferry which I believe usually leaves on a Saturday night.

Day xx (itinerary depending)
3 days ish in Puerto natales for day hikes only. While I enjoy day hikes I don’t think I’m cut out for the W or O treks.

Is this too ambitious relying on buses? Am I overexerting myself? Should I skip the ferry and head back up after Tortel?

I’m also curious how people book accommodation in advance when the bus timetables are not confirmed, do you just have to take the risk?

Thanks so much. And if anyone is interested in being my travel buddy, drop me a message!
