Albany to Lake Placid Road Trip Recs

Hello! My family and I are flying into Albany and renting a car to drive up to the Lake Placid area. We will have 5 hours until we can get to where we are staying, so we are looking for recommendations for the best places to eat/hike/stop along the way, or if any highways are a must-take! We are open to anything, so suggest away!

We are also planning on driving from Lake Placid to Quebec City afterwards, so feel free to give recommendations for that as well! Thanks!
