Deck of Playing Cards Jinki I Made :D
I made a Jinki for myself and designed a character around it a while back, and I still stand by my creation. It's based on my character named Ren, who played cards with his dad all his life, and when his father passed, he inherited his small casino as well as his favorite deck of cards. One day when some officials came to the casino, they fabricated a debt and told Ren that he needed to cheat his players to make up the money, Ren refused and chose to protect the people who gambled at his father's casino. sooner or later, he was taken away for not being able to pay off the fake debt and forced outside his hometown, directly to the trash beasts. With only the deck of cards and the love for his casino and his father's deck, his instrument awoke and he defeated the small hoard of beasts and killed the two officials after learning it was all fabricated for his downfall.
Ren's Jinki is based off of the deck of cards, and it has a crazy cool ability based on poker hands. When the giver transforms it, the deck of cards turns into a steampunk looking device that sits on the wrist and feeds cards into the user's hand, each one razor sharp.
After the basic attacks like throwing the cards, there's an ability where the user activates a 5 card draw, which the mechanical card dispenser shots out 5 cards. Depending on the hand they're dealt, they can "play their hand" and activate a special ability linked to the hand. each hand plays as these abilities:
Pair: twin barricade - Ren plays a pair, and a barrier made up of reinforced scrap metal from the cards appear, interlocking and can be used as both a crushing attack and a barrier to shield from attacks
Two pair: full barricade - Ren interlocks four cards, acting as a dome that can both protect from airborne attacks and can be maneuvered and shaped for a limited time.
Three of a kind: Tri shot Gatling - after playing this hand, the three cards spin in a triangle formation clockwise, firing needles of scrap metal at the opponent for exactly 15 seconds before overheating and dissolving
Flush: Scrapyard Magnet - Ren plays five of the same suit, and the cards circle in a ring shape, using magnetism to draw in every piece of scrap metal in the vicinity as well as anything the opponent is wearing that might be caught in with the magnetism, crushing it all together.
Straight: Linear Executioner - When Ren plays a straight, the five cards link together and for a sword made from scrap metal that can be used for around two minutes before it starts to fall apart and crumble back into scrap
Royal Flush: The Grand Finale - In the unlikely case Ren draws this hand, it creates a domain in which the opponent is pinned to the ground by scrap metal as Ren fires of all cards left in his deck at a rapid pace, slicing the opponent to pieces
Now when Ren uses up all 52 cards, he has to manually retract them back in an effort called The Reshuffle, in which he stands still and holds onto his Jinki as the cards come flying back to the machine. Each card is still razor sharp, so Ren can be caught in the crossfire if he's not careful, however it works on the opponent too, so theoretically it can be used as an attack too
lastly, with the two jokers, he can cram one into his wrist machine manually and force out an assassin blade, used in only dire situations. the reason he wouldn't use it otherwise is because the machine gets jammed after usage, and he has to manually pry out the card after a 30 second usage of the blade, rendering him useless until he can pry the card out of the card slot.
If anyone read all of this, I sincerely thank you for actually reading my yap-fest. I'm too big of a fan of Gachiakuta and have always enjoyed making some sort of side character of my own design for other anime, so to get a random chance to yap is always fun. Let me know if there's any ideas for some cool improvements or balances I can make
