Medical Records v OH
Hi guys, this is my first post on Reddit so if it ends up in a random thread I apologise in advance! This will also be quite a long post so please bear with me!
Note: I know anabolic steroids are Class C drugs and under civilian law the personal use of these is legal, however what I am worried about is the following affecting my ‘Occupational Health medical’
For a bit of context. I am currently looking to join
South Wales Police as a police constable through the Police Constable Entry programme (PCEP) and I am having a difficult time navigating through the following.
I recently consulted my GP (doctor) about an infection in my shoulder directly linked to steroid use, it was my first time using steroids and unfortunately I contracted an infection, This is now clearly on my medical records as I specifically discussed the steroids that caused the infection with my GP, (I know for a solid fact that it is on the notes from the appointment as I called up and spoke to a receptionist to see what it exactly says on the notes)
I am aware that the ‘Occupational Health medical questionnaire’ will need to be filled out by myself and then signed off by my GP, now I believe the infection will fall under the ‘Musculoskeletal’ question.
What I am really after is some advice, if anyone has been through sort of the same thing as me (even if it is involving higher class drugs e.g.Class B and so on that is not necessarily linked to criminal records/convictions but has been discussed with a GP and is on your medical records)
I am happy to select yes to the ‘Musculoskeletal’ question and provide details of the consultation as I know that if I don’t mention and it is investigated by OH it’ll be a direct fail due to integrity/honesty rules, I’ve written up an explanation which is detailed at the bottom of this post, now my explanation does not specifically detail steroids but it does detail reasons for consultation,
If you’ve made it this far I can do nothing but thank you! And I appreciate any and all feedback/information on this
Explanation:
"Sought routine GP treatment for a localized tissue infection in the rear deltoid muscle. Successfully cleared with a standard course of antibiotics.
The muscle has completely healed with 100% strength, normal mobility, and absolutely no lasting impact on my shoulder function."
