Exterior lighting question

I was wanting to buy the volt outdoor light kits to illuminate my home. Does anyone know a website or place where I can upload a photo of my home and get suggestions? Or a lighting 101 blog? It seems there are two kinds of lights, downlights and uplights, but I have no idea where to start.
