I'm worried if we get a Raiden Haslab, we'll never get a new Rail Racer

Discussion / Opinion

So before we begin, important to remember, this is an opinion piece, and is just my opinion.

Conversely, I feel that if we get a Rail Racer Haslab, a CHUG style Raiden will still happen. And that is because Raiden is more popular in Japan. Takara Tomy would at some point do the Trainbots in Legends. Having a Masterpiece doesn't preclude it either, look at how much the embraced using the Leoconvoy mold.

Rail Racer on the other hand doesn't seem anywhere near as popular in Japan. Now I'll admit a lot of this is personal preferrence on my part, but Raiden always look messy to me. It's probably because he's from the pre-transformers Diaclone era, he's got that weird ankle kibble, and he doesn't have the unified color scheme going for him like Devastator. Nor, I'll admit the Nostalgia filters.

Rail Racer on the other hand might be the best looking combiner ever in terms of going together. I did not initally even realize he was a combiner when I saw the first pictures of him due to how cohesive the toy's design was. A lot of that is obviously what they could do with toy engineering at that point, compared to when Raiden was designed. Raiden was when to get a brick robot you had to have a lot, and I do mean a lot of kibble partsforming. Though he doesn't look as bad as Devastator. Never handled the toy. But the JRX/Rail Racer had everything integrated, and only needed to partsform the weapons, so it ended up much smoother in my opinion.

But getting back to my original point, Hasbro does not like doing trains. Due in large part to how badly the original RiD 2001 trains sold. I don't see them wanting to do too many Haslabs that are trains. Heck I'm not sure they'd do two even if a Raiden somehow did Omega Prime numbers. But again, Raiden's got enough popularity that I could see Takara Tomy doing something much easier than I would see them doing a Rail Racer. So I personally really hope we get a Rail Racer before another Raiden.
