TLDR: I’m wondering if this is the Mildred Wirt Benson version of the Carolyn Keene autograph

I’m a big fan of Nancy Drew and I want to collect all of the yellow matte books. I was able to get a ton at the used section of a local bookstore

When I opened the book I saw it was signed by Carolyn Keene. But here lies the problem: I don’t know if the signature is legitimate or not

Before I get into it further: I should specify that Carolyn Keene is a pen name shared by Mildred Wirt Benson (the first writer) and Harriet Adam’s (the second writer)

From what I’ve seen online, the Harriet Adam’s Carolyn Keene signature is a little messier than this

When I looked up Mildred Wirt Benson’s personal signature, it looked a lot more like the one I have

The book in question that I have was the revised 1959 version of the first Nancy Drew book, which was 67 years ago. I wonder if it could be Mildred’s handwriting because it was a book she wrote.

Here lies another problem: but at this point in the timeline she would have stopped writing the Nancy Drew books (as she wrote under Carolyn Keene up until 1953). It’s possible she still signed the book, but it makes it more of a confusing grey area regardless

Anyway, sorry this was so long, but I felt that I had to explain why this is such a confusing situation due to two people sharing the same pen name and the timeline of events 😅

Is this autograph legitimate?
