I need your help!

Hi everyone,

I’m a 22 year old young man living in North Africa, and I’ve been living with Type 1 diabetes for 13 years. I was diagnosed when I was 9 years old.

Managing diabetes here is incredibly difficult. I’m still using old-school insulin and syringes (sometimes I joke that they’re from the ‘70s 😂) because insulin pens and newer diabetes supplies are simply too expensive for me. Every time I see people using CGMs, insulin pumps, and modern treatments, I’m happy for them, but I also wish I had access to those things.

Lately, I’ve started having problems with my eyes, which has made me realize how important it is to have access to better healthcare before things get worse.

My biggest dream is to leave my country and start a new life somewhere in Europe or anywhere else with better healthcare and more opportunities for people living with Type 1 diabetes. "I’m not asking for money” I just want a chance to build a better future.

Has anyone here immigrated while living with Type 1 diabetes? Do you know of any legal pathways, work opportunities, study programs, sponsorships, or organizations that could help someone in my situation? I’m willing to work hard and do whatever it legally takes to make it happen.

If you’ve been through something similar or have any advice, I’d be incredibly grateful if you could share it. Even pointing me in the right direction could change my life.

Thank you for reading, and I hope everyone is staying healthy. ❤️
