how do i write "<3" without html treating it as code?

really stupid question but it's my favourite sign off and i'm too much of a beginner to figure out the terminology to search for the question myself. but essentially every time i write it in a paragraph it's invisible (and probably also doing weird things to my code) because it looks like it's an open bracket, or a less than three symbol or something.
