Family Vacation Experiences and Must Visits?

I’m posting in hopes of getting recommendations from locals on where to visit and what to do during our visit.
My family and I will be visiting San Antonio from September 9th through the 15th. Our group consists of my Mom (50), Dad (51), my Fiancé (18) and myself (19).
We’re hoping to get into the less tourist focused experience and more into the local’s favorites. Unfortunately because of my fiancé and I’s ages we won’t be able to get a bar-crawl experience, but I’m sure such a big city has far more to offer than just that.

So I ask for your favorite places. What businesses do you wish got more recognition from non-locals or locals alike?
