Yu-Gi-Oh! Trinity | S1E1: "Stars in the Sky"
TITLE: YU-GI-OH! TRINITY
EPISODE: 01 - "STARS IN THE SKY"
[SCENE START]
EXT. LOWER DISTRICT STREETS - NIGHT (FLASHBACK)
Heavy rain lashes against the cracked pavement of a lower-district street. The neon lights of Unity City bleed through the downpour, casting long, distorted shadows across the alleyways.
INT. AMAMIYA APARTMENT - CONTINUOUS
Dimly lit. Thunder rattles the thin, single-pane windows.
Seven-year-old YUSHI stands in his pajamas, looking up. The camera stays low, framing the scene entirely from his perspective. The adult standing before him is shrouded in shadow—only his broad silhouette and the collar of a heavy trench coat are visible. This is YUTAKA.
Yutaka kneels, bringing himself down to Yushi's eye level. His weathered hands gently place a brass ASTROLABE, strung on a worn leather cord, around Yushi’s neck.
YUTAKA
(Softly, carrying a heavy weight)
No matter how dark it gets... always trust in the stars to guide your way.
Yushi clutches the cold brass, nodding slowly.
Yutaka stands. He hesitates for a fraction of a second, but doesn't look back. The front door clicks shut behind him.
EXT. AMAMIYA APARTMENT BUILDING - MOMENTS LATER
Yutaka walks out into the freezing rain. A sleek, black luxury car idles at the curb. It looks entirely alien against the backdrop of the run-down apartment block.
Lightning flashes, briefly illuminating the silver emblem on the car door: a stark, minimalist logo for DPM.
Yutaka slides into the back seat. The car glides away into the storm without a sound, swallowed by the neon glare of the city.
INT. YUSHI'S BEDROOM - DAY (PRESENT)
BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.
A battered digital alarm clock blares.
YUSHI (15) shoots up in bed, gasping slightly as if waking from a falling dream. The rain is gone, replaced by the harsh morning sunlight filtering through the bent blinds of his cramped bedroom.
He breathes out, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. His hand instinctively goes to his chest. He holds the brass astrolabe, rubbing his thumb over the intricate celestial engravings.
He throws the covers off. Sitting on his nightstand, right next to the alarm clock, is his DUEL DISK. It’s an older model, heavily scratched, with visible patchwork repairs and a strip of electrical tape near the bracer.
Yushi grabs it, strapping it to his arm with practiced ease. The disk hums to life with a low, reliable vibration.
He walks to the window, looking past the rusted fire escapes toward the towering, pristine skyscrapers of upper Unity City looming in the distance.
YUSHI
(A quiet promise)
Just watch me, Dad.
INT. AMAMIYA APARTMENT - KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS
The kitchen is small, the paint peeling at the corners, but it’s immaculately clean. Sunlight catches the dust motes dancing in the air.
SACHI AMAMIYA (mid-30s, looking perpetually exhausted but with a warm, unwavering smile) sits at the tiny laminate dining table. She is quickly shuffling a stack of past-due envelopes, pushing one with the bold DPM logo to the bottom of the pile as Yushi walks in.
YUSHI
Morning, Mom.
SACHI
Morning, Yushi. Grab a piece of toast, you’re going to be late.
Yushi grabs a piece of toast, but his eyes catch the red "FINAL NOTICE" lettering peeking out from the bottom of the mail stack. He frowns, reaching for it.
YUSHI
Mom, is DPM hiking the rent again? I can pick up some odd jobs after school, maybe run deliveries for—
Aoi gently but firmly swats his hand away from the envelopes.
SACHI
You will do no such thing. The rent is my job. Your job is to go to school, keep your grades up, and practice your dueling.
YUSHI
But—
SACHI
(Softening, cupping his cheek)
No "buts." I didn't raise you to stress over utility bills. Just be a kid today, okay? Now get out of here before Grant leaves without you.
Yushi hesitates, then nods, giving her a quick hug before bolting out the door. Aoi's smile immediately fades as the door clicks shut. She pulls the DPM envelope back to the top of the pile, rubbing her temples.
EXT. TRINITY DUEL SCHOOL - DAY
A converted warehouse in the lower districts. The sign above the door reads "TRINITY DUEL ACADEMY," but the 'M' is burned out. The building is sandwiched between an elevated train track and a noisy auto shop.
INT. TRINITY DUEL SCHOOL - CONTINUOUS
The main floor is a massive, cavernous space housing a handful of aging Duel Arenas. The holographic projectors hum with a loud, mechanical whine.
In Arena B, a massive, pixelated hologram of a fiery demon—Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss—flickers in and out of resolution.
Standing on the platform is GRANT (15, wearing a worn denim jacket, arms crossed with a cocky grin).
GRANT
Come on, system! Don't glitch out on me now, I'm about to swing for game!
Below the arena, sitting on a stack of folding chairs, is KOKO (15, effortlessly cool, scrolling through a tablet). She doesn't even look up at the duel.
KOKO
You wouldn't have to worry about the holograms glitching if you didn't waste three turns setting up a mindless beatdown, Grant. You missed lethal two turns ago.
GRANT
(Scowling)
It’s not mindless! It’s called establishing dominance!
In the small set of bleachers beside them, the junior students are already causing a scene.
TYSON (10, practically vibrating with energy) is throwing wild shadow-punches at the air.
TYSON
Yeah! Establish dominance! Uppercut 'em, Grant!
SIMON (11, pushing oversized glasses up his nose) is furiously scribbling in a notebook, shaking his head.
SIMON
Statistically speaking, Koko is right. By extending his combo, Grant left his backrow entirely unprotected. A single board wipe would reduce his win probability to zero percent.
PIPER (9, resting her chin in her hands, looking profoundly bored) sighs.
PIPER
Grant plays like a bull in a china shop. It’s embarrassing.
GRANT
(Overhearing)
I can hear you, Piper!
Yushi walks through the main doors, smiling at the chaos. This is his element.
YUSHI
Hey! Are we dueling or just arguing about dueling?
The group turns. Tyson immediately abandons his shadowboxing and cheers.
TYSON
Yushi! Tell Grant his Burning Abyss monsters are awesome!
PIPER
Tell Grant to read his card effects.
Grant jumps down from the arena platform, deactivating his Duel Disk. He walks over to Yushi, a competitive spark in his eye.
GRANT
Perfect timing, Yushi. I just tweaked my extra deck, and Koko refuses to duel me because she says my strategy is "uncouth."
KOKO
(Smirking)
I said it was predictable. There's a difference.
GRANT
Whatever. Yushi, get up there. I need to test this combo on someone who actually fights back.
Yushi looks at the glitching arena, then at Grant. The stress of the morning melts away, replaced by the thrill of the game. He raises his arm, his scratched Duel Disk clicking into active mode.
YUSHI
Alright, Grant. But don't complain when the stars align against you.
Yushi steps onto the opposing platform. The arena systems hum loudly as the "DUEL" graphic flashes in jagged, low-resolution letters between them.
INT. TRINITY DUEL SCHOOL - CONTINUOUS
The glitching holographic arena flares to life, bathing the warehouse in a flickering, neon-blue light. Above Yushi and Grant, their Life Point counters lock in at 4000.
YUSHI / GRANT
Duel!
[YUSHI: 4000 LP | GRANT: 4000 LP]
Both duelists draw their starting hands of five cards. Yushi glances at his hand, a confident smile spreading across his face.
YUSHI
You’ve been tweaking your deck all week, Grant. Let’s see what you’ve got. You take the first turn.
GRANT
You’re gonna regret being so polite! My turn. I draw!
Grant snaps a card from his deck, adding it to his hand. He immediately slaps a monster onto his Duel Disk blade.
GRANT (CONT'D)
Since I don't control any Spell or Trap cards, I can Special Summon Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss straight from my hand!
The arena projectors hum loudly. A burst of pixelated hellfire erupts on Grant's side of the field. From the flames steps a grotesque, horned fiend draped in tattered red cloth.
[Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss: Level 3 | 1600 ATK / 1200 DEF]
TYSON
(Cheering from the bleachers)
Yeah! Bring the heat, Grant!
GRANT
I'm just getting warmed up! Next, I Normal Summon Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss! And Rubic isn't just any monster... he's a Tuner!
A second pillar of fire erupts, revealing a winged, jagged demon wielding a cruel-looking pitchfork.
[Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss: Level 3 | 100 ATK / 2100 DEF]
SIMON
(Adjusting his glasses, eyes wide)
A Level 3 Tuner and a Level 3 non-Tuner on the first turn... Koko, he's going for it!
KOKO
(Not looking up from her tablet)
Like I said. Predictable.
Grant thrusts his hand forward. The holographic projectors whine in protest as the animation begins. Rubic transforms into three glowing green rings of light, which encircle Cir. Cir dissolves into three glowing stars that align within the rings.
GRANT
The flames of the underworld rise to the rhythm of destruction! I tune my Level 3 Cir with my Level 3 Rubic!
A blinding pillar of light shoots up through the center of the rings, scattering the shadows in the warehouse.
GRANT (CONT'D)
Synchro Summon! Take the stage... Virgil, Rock Star of the Burning Abyss!
The light shatters. Floating above Grant's field is an angelic yet corrupted figure holding a jagged, glowing lute made of bone and hellfire. He strums a heavy, distorted chord that echoes through the warehouse speakers.
[Virgil, Rock Star of the Burning Abyss: Level 6 | 2500 ATK / 1000 DEF]
TYSON
Whoa! 2500 Attack right out of the gate!
PIPER
(Deadpan)
Why is he playing a guitar in the middle of a battle? That seems highly impractical.
GRANT
It's about the aesthetic, Piper!
(Turning back to Yushi)
I set two cards face-down and end my turn. Let's see you try and break this board, Yushi!
Two massive, holographic card backs materialize behind Virgil, securing Grant's defenses.
YUSHI
A heavy hitter and two traps to back him up. Not bad, Grant. But you know what happens when you block out the light?
Yushi places his fingers on the top card of his deck, closing his eyes for a fraction of a second. His thumb brushes against the brass astrolabe on his chest.
YUSHI (CONT'D)
The stars just shine brighter. My turn! I draw!
Yushi draws his card in a wide, sweeping arc.
INT. TRINITY DUEL SCHOOL - CONTINUOUS
Yushi looks at the card he just drew, a spark of recognition in his eyes.
YUSHI
First, I Normal Summon Constellar Algeidi!
A burst of starlight coalesces on the field, revealing a celestial warrior adorned in gleaming, golden armor resembling the horns of a goat.
[Constellar Algeidi: Level 4 | 1600 ATK / 1400 DEF]
YUSHI (CONT'D)
And when Algeidi is Normal Summoned, its effect activates. I can Special Summon another Level 4 Constellar monster directly from my hand. Descend, Constellar Kaus!
A second beam of light strikes the arena. A centaur-like warrior clad in majestic, shining armor gallops onto the field, raising a golden bow.
[Constellar Kaus: Level 4 | 1800 ATK / 700 DEF]
SIMON
(Writing furiously in his notebook)
Two Level 4 monsters on the field in a single turn without using the Graveyard... his resource management is perfectly efficient!
GRANT
Two Level 4s? That means you're going for a Rank 4 Xyz. It's not gonna be enough to get over Virgil's 2500 Attack, Yushi!
YUSHI
Who said they were staying Level 4?
Grant blinks, caught off guard.
YUSHI (CONT'D)
I activate Kaus’s special effect! Twice per turn, I can target a Constellar monster on my field and increase its Level by 1. I'll use it on both Algeidi and Kaus!
The golden armor on both monsters flares with intense, blinding light. The four glowing orbs orbiting each of them suddenly multiply, becoming five.
[Constellar Algeidi: Level 4 ➔ 5]
[Constellar Kaus: Level 4 ➔ 5]
YUSHI (CONT'D)
Now I have two Level 5 monsters. It's time to build the Overlay Network!
Yushi thrusts his hand into the air. Algeidi and Kaus transform into streaks of golden light, spiraling upward into a swirling, galaxy-like vortex that opens above the arena.
YUSHI (CONT'D)
Light of the stars, converge and shatter the darkness! Xyz Summon! Emerge, Rank 5... Constellar Pleiades!
A massive pillar of starlight crashes onto the field. From the crater rises a towering, angelic knight clad in pristine white and gold armor, wielding a massive broadsword. Two golden orbs of light—his Overlay Units—orbit his body.
[Constellar Pleiades: Rank 5 | 2500 ATK / 1500 DEF]
TYSON
(Jumping out of his seat)
There it is! The boss monster! Let 'em have it, Yushi!
YUSHI
I detach one Overlay Unit from Pleiades to activate his effect! Once per turn, during either player's turn, I can target one card on the field and return it to the hand! Or in Virgil's case... the Extra Deck!
One of the golden orbs orbiting Pleiades shatters. The knight raises his broadsword, gathering a massive sphere of starlight at the tip, aiming directly at Virgil.
GRANT
(Grinning)
I know how your deck works, Yushi! You think I’d just sit here and let you bounce my monster? I activate my Trap Card! Fiendish Chain!
Grant hits a button on his Duel Disk. One of his face-down cards flips face-up.
Suddenly, thick, ethereal chains erupt from the holographic floor of the arena. They snake through the air and violently wrap around Pleiades's arms, legs, and sword, completely binding the Constellar knight. The gathered starlight on his sword fizzles out.
GRANT (CONT'D)
As long as Fiendish Chain is on the field, your monster's effects are completely negated, and it can't declare an attack! You're locked down!
The junior kids groan in disappointment.
PIPER
Well, that was a short-lived victory.
KOKO
Grant overextended his first turn, but he made up for it with backrow protection. Yushi's turn is completely stalled unless he has a counter.
Yushi looks at his bound ace monster, then down at his hand. He takes a slow breath, remaining perfectly calm.
YUSHI
Good play, Grant. You really have been tweaking this deck. I'll set one card face-down and end my turn.
A holographic card materializes behind the chained Pleiades.
YUSHI (CONT'D)
Your move. Let's see if you can break my defenses before time runs out.
INT. TRINITY DUEL SCHOOL - CONTINUOUS
Grant grins, ripping the top card from his deck.
GRANT
My turn! Draw! You survived one turn, Yushi, but you’re completely wide open.
Grant takes a card from his hand, holding it up.
GRANT (CONT'D)
I activate Virgil’s effect! Once per turn, by discarding a Burning Abyss card, I can target one card on the field or in the Graveyard and shuffle it back into the deck!
Grant slides the discarded card into his Graveyard slot. Virgil strums a heavy, distorted note on his fiery lute, the sound waves visibly rippling toward the chained Pleiades.
GRANT (CONT'D)
Say goodbye to your ace, Yushi! Virgil, send Pleiades back to the—
PZZZZT!
The screech of failing electronics rips through the warehouse. The neon-blue light of the arena abruptly dies. Virgil, Pleiades, the glowing chains, and the Life Point counters all vanish into thin air. The heavy holographic projectors spin down with a pathetic, whining groan.
GRANT (CONT'D)
Hey! What gives?! We were right in the middle of a combo!
Yushi lowers his arm, tapping his deactivated Duel Disk. He looks toward the control booth, but it's empty.
TYSON
Aw, come on! The power grid blew again?
SIMON
(Checking his tablet)
No... the local grid is stable. The building's power was severed externally.
Before anyone can react, the massive, rusted metal doors at the front of the warehouse slide open with a heavy screech. The midday sunlight spills in, casting long shadows.
Three figures step inside. Two are hulking security guards in tactical gear. The man leading them is MR. STERLING—a sharply dressed, unnervingly neat corporate representative wearing a silver DPM lapel pin.
Mr. Sterling doesn't look at the kids. He walks directly to the school's central bulletin board, pulls a crisp white document from his briefcase, and tacks it over a hand-drawn poster of a Kuriboh. The bold red letters at the top read: NOTICE OF FORECLOSURE.
YUSHI
Hey! What do you think you’re doing?
Mr. Sterling finally turns, adjusting his cuffs. He looks at Yushi and the others like they are dirt on his shoes.
MR. STERLING
Executing a standard asset seizure on behalf of the Department of Poverty Management. This property was in default. DPM has purchased the deed.
KOKO
(Stepping forward, her eyes narrowing)
Purchased the deed? This is an accredited Duel Academy. You can't just shut it down without a 90-day league notice.
MR. STERLING
(Smirking)
We can when the land is slated for redevelopment. DPM is breaking ground on a new corporate server farm at the end of the month. Take your toys and clear out. This building is officially condemned.
The weight of the words hits the junior class like a physical blow.
SIMON
C-condemned? But... where are we supposed to practice?
TYSON
(Fists clenched)
You can't do this! This is our school!
PIPER
(Voice trembling slightly, losing her sarcastic edge)
We don't have anywhere else to go.
Grant’s face flushes with anger. He hops off the arena platform, marching right up to the security guards.
GRANT
You suits think you can buy the ground out from under us? Try taking this place from us, I dare you!
One of the guards reaches for his baton, but Yushi is faster. He steps between Grant and the guards, putting a firm hand on Grant’s chest to hold him back.
YUSHI
Grant, stop. That's what they want.
Yushi locks eyes with Mr. Sterling. The financial anxiety that plagues his home life bubbles to the surface, but he channels it into pure, focused resolve.
YUSHI (CONT'D)
How much? What's the buyout clause on the deed?
MR. STERLING
(Laughs coldly)
Excuse me? Son, the buyout clause is two million credits. You couldn't afford the doorknob.
Behind them, Koko’s tablet chimes. She’s been furiously swiping through city data networks since Sterling walked in. Her eyes widen.
KOKO
He doesn't have to afford it. But DPM does.
She turns the tablet around. On the screen is a flashy, high-budget advertisement for the Unity City Duel Tournament. The sponsor logo in the corner is DPM.
KOKO (CONT'D)
The City-Wide Tournament next month. It’s an open-entry corporate initiative. The grand prize includes a three-million-credit educational grant directed to the winner’s affiliated Duel Academy.
Yushi looks at the tablet, then back to Sterling. A fierce, confident smile breaks across his face.
YUSHI
Three million credits. That covers the deed, the overdue taxes, and upgrades the holograms.
MR. STERLING
(Scoffs)
An open-entry initiative meant for elite private academies. Street trash with secondhand Duel Disks wouldn't survive the preliminary rounds.
Yushi taps the brass astrolabe on his chest, then raises his scratched Duel Disk, pointing it directly at Sterling.
YUSHI
Then it’s a good thing we aren't planning on surviving. We’re planning on winning. You tell whoever runs DPM that Trinity Duel School is entering the tournament. And we’re taking your money.
Sterling stares at the fiery resolve in Yushi's eyes. For a fraction of a second, the corporate rep looks genuinely unsettled. He adjusts his tie, motioning for the guards to leave.
MR. STERLING
Enjoy your remaining three weeks in the dirt, kids.
He turns and walks out. The warehouse doors slam shut, plunging the arena back into dim, natural light. The kids stand in silence for a moment, the gravity of the situation sinking in.
Tyson looks up at Yushi, his eyes wide with awe.
TYSON
Are we really gonna enter the City Tournament?
Grant cracks his knuckles, a dangerous grin spreading across his face. Koko powers off her tablet, her mind already calculating the odds.
YUSHI
We have to. They want to treat us like a rounding error? We're going to crash their entire system.
[EPILOGUE]
INT. DPM TOWER - EXECUTIVE OFFICE - DAY
A sprawling, pristine office at the top of Unity City’s tallest skyscraper. The walls are entirely glass, overlooking the metropolis below.
SILAS (40s, impeccably tailored, his eyes cold and clinical) sits in the dark, bathed only in the glow of three massive, floating holographic monitors.
SCREEN 1: Live security footage from Trinity Duel School. It shows Yushi, standing tall, pointing his Duel Disk at Mr. Sterling.
SCREEN 2: Shaky cellphone footage of a dark alleyway. A boy with Yushi's exact face—YUGEN—coldly commands a massive, shadowy puppet (El Shaddoll Winda) to finish off a terrified street duelist.
SCREEN 3: A high-definition, corporate broadcast. A boy in a pristine white uniform with Yushi's exact face—YUZURU—stands perfectly still, expressionless, as his shimmering dragon (Baxia, Brightness of the Yang Zing) shatters his opponent's life points.
Silas takes a slow sip from a porcelain teacup. He taps a key on his desk. The three screens merge into a single bracket graphic for the Unity City Duel Tournament. The names Amamiya, Kuroda, and Shiratori are systematically locked into opposing blocks.
SILAS
The variables are active. Let the experiment begin.
