Best ressources for dancer moving to figure skating?
Hey hi hello!
I’ve been doing rhythmic gymnastics and ballet for around 15 years, so I’m not asking for comments saying that self-teaching is dangerous and etc - I know my body perfectly well, I just need specific guidance on how to begin getting into the proper basics of figure skating.
I finally learned how to skate about 6 months ago and I had an acquaintance guide me also got the way, but they moved so I now have to continue alone.
What I can do now is figure 8s, basic edge control (spirals), backwards skating, forward stepping or whatever it’s called, trying to get the hang of backwards stepping, and I can hold up to about 12-15s on a single blade going mostly straight - kind of getting the hang of turning around the edges of the arena.
I’d love to get some proper lessons, but unfortunately I am but am the textbook definition of a broke student, so I don’t really have the money for lessons. I go to the rink when it’s free and skate for however many hours it’s open to the public.
So my question is - what are the best ressources I can use to move along with figure skating? I know it’s definitely not going to be as effective as someone helping in-person, but again, very broke.
Thanks
