WIBTA if I brought this up to my friends, or am I just being dramatic?
I (19F) went on a mini vacation with three friends for my birthday. My parents were incredibly generous and paid for everyone's hotel stay at a 5-star resort. In total, they spent well over $3,000.
The resort also came with unlimited Express Passes for the two theme parks we were going to, so by staying there, each of my friends saved over $600 they otherwise would've had to spend.
Here's what's bothering me: two of my friends never thanked my parents. Not once. My parents noticed it too and told me afterward that they felt really disrespected. They didn't have to pay for anyone else's stay, but they wanted to make my birthday special and include my friends.
On top of that, my third friend (who did thank my parents and was genuinely appreciative) drove three hours to the resort after picking the other two up from their houses. She spent around $160 on gas, and the other two didn't offer to chip in or even thank her for driving.
Another thing that's been bothering me is that the same two friends also didn't get me anything for my birthday. I wasn't expecting expensive gifts, but even a card, something small, or just making an effort would've meant a lot.
I keep wondering if I'm overreacting because it's not really about the money. It's more that it feels like there was a complete lack of appreciation toward the people who made the trip possible.
Would it be wrong if I brought this up? If you think I should, how would you word it without sounding accusatory? Or should I just let it go and accept that this is who they are?
I'd really appreciate outside opinions because I can't tell if I'm being too sensitive or if my feelings are justified.
