The complaints about the new Gundam are annoying, but they make sense.

Discussion

I consider UC to be the most iconic and interesting timeline of the franchise. But I also like several of the anime from the alternate timeline, such as Seed, Turn A, G Gundam, and IBO.Moreover, IBO, in particular, was, for me, one of the closest to the depth of narrative quality of some of the UC series, even surpassing some of them.

Despite being a "UC veteran," I'm not against changes and new things in the franchise. However, even though I'm in favor of new things, I couldn't get interested in the two most recent series, WFM and G Quax, in the case of WFM, it was because I felt the characters' drama was too focused on teenage dilemmas, which I felt was definitely not for me, since I'm already an adult (and it's okay for the anime to be like that). In the case of GQuax, it was due to a certain feeling of betrayal, since the trailers heavily referenced older series, In particular, the premise of "what if Zeon had won the war instead of the Federation" was, in my view, too strong a premise to justify.

But in the end, it only served as bait for nostalgia, with a story that seemed unsure whether to focus on the new or the past. Which ended up disappointing me.And now we have this series, whose concept is completely outside the traditional Gundam sphere. Since it apparently involves fighting aliens, which, as has been pointed out several times, is more reminiscent of Macross than Gubdam.

So I think that given a premise so drastically different from what even the oldest alternative franchises followed, the disdain of newer fans makes sense. Again, I'm not against using different ideas, and ideas outside the original premise of the franchise, but I think they've strayed a little too far from the essence of the franchise, which I consider a mistake.Primarily in global geopolitics, with the resurgence of senseless wars, this reinforces the need for more anti-war works, such as Gundam.

So, what do you think?
