Update: I don’t want to have s*x on my birthday.

My ex did turn up, and I did take the path of least resistance and "got her off" - but! taking some of the advice that was left on my previous post I also took the day after my birthday as paid time off without her or anybody else knowing so I could try to have fewer responsibilities for a few hours; I wanted to go to a pub that was holding a 90s dance music night, but I was too shy, so I ended up practising my writing and playing one of the Mario RPG games - not a perfect outcome, but not as bad as it could've been :)
