Early 30s - Menorrhagia & Considering a Hysterectomy. Looking for Experiences
Hi everyone,
I’m in my early 30s, live in Canada, have two children, and I’m confident our family is complete.
I’ve struggled with menorrhagia (very heavy menstrual bleeding) for quite a while, and it’s reached the point where it’s having a significant impact on my quality of life. I also struggle with recurring iron deficiency because of the heavy bleeding.
I’ve been working through treatment options with my doctor, but because I have migraine with aura, estrogen-containing birth control isn’t recommended for me, which limits my options. I’ve recently started Slynd and am hoping it helps, but I also have a referral to see an OB/GYN and am wondering what the future could look like if it doesn’t.
I’m curious to hear from others who ultimately had a hysterectomy because of heavy bleeding.
What treatments did you try before deciding on surgery?
Once you saw your OB/GYN, how difficult was it to get approved for a hysterectomy?
If you had a hysterectomy, how has life been since?
Was the surgery worth it?
Is there anything you wish you’d known beforehand?
I know everyone’s experience is different, but hearing from people who’ve been through it would really help me know what to expect.
