Something caught the compostable pot this rose was in on fire, I don't know if it was just a freak act of nature or what. There could have been windows on the house catching sunlight or someone could have thrown something over the wall like a cigarette butt (I find cigarette butts all the time). My camera caught no proof and we've been having plenty of wildfires in the area so it's very dry summer weather. I had left the rose with a watering orb to keep it alive, checked on it a couple days later. I'd found it a week ago and have been watering it when I can... I'm an amateur, I've been stepping in with my Mom's plants and watering them for her due to her health and mobility issues. Little by little the plants were getting better but then this happened and more grief settled into my routine.

Even if it wasn't perfect this rose was my plant baby. I deadheaded it before, had mixed in some fertilizer, and was planning on doing more for it like repotting.

I'm working on getting myself healthy (physically and mentally), getting a caregiver for my Mom, taking care of my old dog... But the plants have been a highlight for me when I remember to go outside. I know there will be other roses and plants but I'd like to know whether I should just file this away and learn from it, always repot your plants or something. Should I keep watering it or am I just wasting water?

I have support from my family from afar and Mom and I are mostly managing but this was just a lot to find it decimated like this.

1 and 2 are pictures from today. 3 is the other potted rose with the same kind of compostable pot that caught fire, and 4 is one of the former little baby buds of the burnt rose I was so excited about.
