Switching apprenticeships question.

I’m considering applying for my local IBEW union apprenticeship, and if I were accepted, leaving my current apprenticeship at a union utility. Am I making a mistake, or has anyone else been in a similar situation? I’d appreciate any advice or perspective. Also, I want to add that the union utility basically BLACKBALLS you from working on their property for a contractor if you top out with them.
