No matter what, she still lost
No matter what, she still lost. She can put on a tough mask all she wants or act like she's playing an Uno reverse card against a man by making him take care of their child. But the truth is, a mother's connection to her child will always be different from a father's connection to his child. Two things can be true at the same time. Society does make it seem like deadbeat fathers get off easily while mothers take on all the responsibility and the blame. AND biologically speaking, a mother's brain does become more attached to her child than a father's. The reason so many men can walk away just like that is because their brain chemistry and body are not as connected to the child. A mother has a unique connection to her child because the baby grows in her womb.
The moment she decided to give Landon a second chance, that was the moment she lost. Then she gave him even more power by living and giving birth in a country where Landon naturally has more power because he is the one with citizenship there.
Playing the Uno reverse card also wouldn't work in this case because Liz wouldn't have the same level of detachment from the child as deadbeat fathers out there. Therefore, she doesn't actually have the same feeling of "winning" that those men feel. I really think she's just putting on a tough mask because she doesn't have enough humility to admit that she's hurt, which makes her someone with very low emotional intelligence. Instead of sitting with the pain and doing some introspection about how all of her bad decisions led her to this point, she'd rather externalize that pain by shouting about it on the internet. It's like a child who knows they were wrong for stealing a cookie, but instead of apologizing or admitting it, they cry and scream.
