Yo Yo Yo it's 1994 tonight! Nickelodeon is running new episodes of Rocko's Modern Life, Friends and ER premier, Jim Carrey puts out Ace Ventura, The Mask, AND Dumb and Dumber, The Lion King is dominated theaters, we're about to get a Playstation, and Phish was quickly evolving from a band that played nightclubs and small theaters to a band that played the arenas and summer sheds we all know and love... almost entirely by word of mouth!

For a great look into a slice of life on the road and some first hand reviews of shows from someone who followed the band and saw their crowd double and triple in size over the course of the summer of '94 I highly recommend this book by Zzyzx called This Has All Been Wonderful: A Travel Monologue From Summer 1994: The Year Phish Became Phish. It's fun to listen to the shows as he documents highlights from them and it's a quick read. I bought it from David "ZZYZX" Steinberg on the lot at Hollywood Bowl and he signed the inside cover for me. It reads, "You could have bought a balloon but you bought this instead. Thank you!"

Let's sit back and enjoy and pretend it's 1994 here today. Unplug your phones from the wall, get your devil sticks, hold down the tracking button on your VCR, and get your beanbag fluffed-- We're in for a wild ride :)
