Taking off for being sick

Advice Wanted

I dont get sick very often maybe a few handful times a year but every time its an argument at work if noone is wanting to cover for whenever I do. Which one part I do understand most our leads work most the week, but this time around really got to me cause I told my boss I was sick the day before my shift, saying im lethargic and a really sore throat to the point it hurts to talk and or swallow and even asked in the dreaded group chat if someone would swap out some days later in the week with me so I could get rest due to being sick. Most people dont even bother replying, the few who do said no.

My shift came around today this afternoon and she's asking where am I. I reply saying I told you yesterday i am sick, and that I didn't think I could make it in today. She's wanting to argue since I didn't find coverage I should have come in also adding in "several of us have been sick working anyways." And that "if noone wants to cover tomorrow I better come." I told her It was always my understanding that you try to find coverage to save your boss the trouble but ultimately if you have a legitimate reason and give reasonable notice its on management to find coverage. And that coming in sick and injured shouldn't be the standard, but that I was sorry If I wasn't clear being sick meant I wasn't coming in.

Im aware this situation amongst others there have felt more and more toxic so I have been stuck with just dealing. Hoping I can get a car together soon since I dont currently have one and live pretty far from an actual town. I'd like some advice in how to navigate the situation better if possible. Maybe any other thoughts pertaining to.
