Hi everyone,
I’m Robert, founder of DynamicX.
These are some photos from our early development process.
I’ve been thinking about a fundamental question while developing motion simulation:

**What are we actually trying to simulate?**
Most discussions about motion systems focus on specifications:
Number of axes
Travel distance
Platform movement
Force output
But the more important question might be:
**What information does a real vehicle deliver to the driver?**

A real car gives the driver different layers of feedback:
Vehicle attitude (pitch, roll, heave)
Body feedback (acceleration, braking, weight transfer)
Vibration and impacts
Visual and audio cues
Different motion architectures naturally focus on different parts of this experience.
A Stewart platform is excellent at recreating vehicle movement and overall platform dynamics.
A seat mover focuses more directly on the driver’s body perception.
I don’t think one approach is simply better. They are different solutions for different goals.

When we designed DX2 Ultra, we started with a specific question:
**For a home sim racer who already owns a cockpit, what is the most valuable first step into motion?**

We focused on:
Direct body feedback
Fast response
Compact size
Easy integration into a home setup
Because many sim racers have already invested in:
Direct drive wheels
High-end pedals
Cockpits
VR
But moving from a static cockpit to motion is still a big step.

During development, we learned something interesting:
**More movement does not always mean more immersion.**

The brain cares about timing and relevance.
A motion system needs to communicate:
“the car is braking”
“the rear is losing grip”
“the vehicle is loading up in a corner”
A smaller but faster and more direct response can sometimes feel more connected than a larger movement.

Our goal with DynamicX is not to prove one motion technology is the answer.
We want to explore how humans perceive driving feedback and build better simulation experiences.
DX2 Ultra is our first step in this direction.
I would love to hear from people here:
For racing simulation, what matters most to you?
Large movement range?
Faster response?
Direct body feedback?
Haptic feedback?
Software profiles?
What has made the biggest difference in your immersion?

Starting from first principles: what should a motion simulator really simulate?
