Why does Joel scream like a girl in no return?

I was playing some no return as Joel and I died, however when I did die I heard Joel screaming and it was this high pitched, voice crack, pathetic scream. This surprised me as I was under the impression that they just re used voice lines from the previous games, which Joel never screams the way he does in no return.
