I (29NB) fucked up and made my GF (27F) uncomfortable
Me and my girlfriend have been together for over 7 months now. Last month we were hanging out at my place and I asked if we could do anything sexual a couple of times to which she said no because she hadn’t been in the mood. In my lapse of judgement, I decided to ask her again later that night to which she said she was uncomfortable with how persistent I was and left. She said she still loved me and that it was okay but in that moment she just needed to remove herself from the situation because I made her uncomfortable.
Things continued as normal but I did notice a shift in how she started doing small acts of affection less.
Last night she confessed that the events of that night really hurt her and she kept it to herself this whole time but it was eating away at her. She said that it made her feel like she was being used like in previous relationships and that it’s snowballed to the point where small affections scare her.
I almost feel like a monster for letting myself do that to her. I want to feel like I’m someone that she can feel safe to be around again Since that night I’ve tried to pull back on my own small acts of affection and trying not to be pushy or try to initiate anything.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? Will I ever be able to help her feel less scared around me?
