Lidocaine for forced denial?

Yesterday I tried using a lidocaine based ointment before edging and I'm not sure if it actually did anything. I definitely felt the pressure of needing to orgasm but if anything it was more of a dulled(?) feeling. I lasted longer than I usually do at the intensity I was going but I was hoping it'd be a little stronger or last longer. Ultimately the idea of not being able to feel my cock doesn't phase me since I dope myself with enough porn that I know I'd still get horny enough I just crave that desperation of not being able to feel anything.

I used this btw Xylocaine Ointment 5% 35g.
