Sri Lanka itinerary tips

Hey everyone!
In December I am going to Sri Lanka for 9 nights. My plans was:

1 night Colombo
1 night Kandy
2 nights Ella
2 nights Tangalle
1 night mirissa
2 nights Galle

I know it seems rushed but if it is linear i was thinking I can see highlights along the way before I enjoy the south. I would skip Colombo, but I have a long layover and two flights so think I just need a day without more travel. And Kandy is so I can get there before the train to Ella and just do a quick walk around town.

Ahangama seems nice too but I don’t think I’ll have time.
Tips from getting from Ella to Tangalle + Tangalle to Galle appreciated
