Delayed emotional processing
Hello! :)
Sorry I know I’ve been posting on here quite a bit but had a question I wanted to ask!
Has anyone else experienced delayed emotional processing?
A lot has happened this week—some pretty heavy stuff—and I’ve felt “off” the whole time, but I haven’t really been able to identify what I was feeling.
Tonight I’ve suddenly started feeling quite anxious, and I think I know why, but I still can’t fully pinpoint the emotion. It’s like my brain knows something’s wrong before I consciously do.
This seems to be a pattern for me. I often don’t realise how I’m feeling until it’s built up over days, and by then it’s all muddled together and really hard to make sense of. It’s almost like my emotions are delayed, and then they all hit at once.
Can anyone else relate to this? Is this something you’ve experienced with ADHD, autism, anxiety, or just in general? I’d love to know how other people experience it and whether you’ve found anything that helps.
